The coffee at work is horrible. I brew at home in the mornings and transport the magic caffeine juice in an insulated water bottle. The amount I make normally gives me at least two cups which is plenty for me.
In the summer, I make cold brew and just use a tumbler with ice/coffee. I much prefer cold/iced coffee so I cannot wait until it warms up a bit (low 50's in SoCal. #brrr).
My preferred hot brew method is fresh grind into a pour-over, served black.
So OPPO, how do you get your morning caffeine fix? Work coffee, chain coffee shop, local coffee shop, make at home, etc.? Bonus points if you tell me how you drink it. Black, cream, sugar, with hot chocolate, cream with a splash of coffee, etc.

Newman’s pod in the Keurig machine at the office. Not premium or the best flavor-wise, but free and good enough. I drink it black.

Black, as God intended.
I make it with fresh roasted beans in a carafe-free coffee system and throw it into my Stanley thermos and take it to work.
It used to be a bigger deal when I rode my bike to work and my office didn’t provide coffee. (I could bring in my own K-cups to use in the machine, but no)
The new office has coffee and it’s actually palatable, but still I like having coffee for the train ride.
FWIW my stanley mug will keep the coffee hot to 2 PM when I make it at 6:30 AM.

Since I started dealing with hypertension a few years ago, I switched to whole bean coffee and buy one bag of Colombian and one bag of Colombian decaf. Then I mix the beans together in a big bowl. So, each morning I grind a pot of half-caff. Then I drink it black. I’m bummed because Costco discontinued the Kirkland brand coffee I’ve been buying for years. I’ve got a few months of it stocked up in my freezer, but it will eventually run out and I’ll have to find a new supplier.
As for coffee on the road, I actually like McDonald’s. It’s consistent, usually relatively fresh, and not bitter. I think Starbucks is a terrible place to go for a cup of coffee. If I have to get some there, I’ll get the misto, which is coffee with steamed milk.

I have a Keurig at home to use when I’m lazy (often). I am thinking about bringing it to my office but I do not want to put off a “your coffee isn’t good enough for me” vibe.
I hear bad things about Dunkin. I’ve personally never had it. Their donuts are adequate at best though.

When I make coffee at home, I use Starbucks Pike Place or Holiday Blend. Straight up black coffee.
When I’m out, I drink grande black iced coffee from Starbucks.
I’m Colombian. I was raised on black coffee. I can’t live without it.

Yeah, you get a decent cup of coffee from BIG K. Not great, but decent. Plus you can make oatmeal and tea from the hot water.
I remember DD coffee and donuts being way, way better than they are now. Once they decided to sell flatbreads and all other kinds of stuff quality of their staples took a nose dive.

I’ve recently discovered McD’s iced coffee. A medium is only $2 and honestly, better than Starbs! My life has changed. That is a good idea to make the half-caff. I forwent caffeine for years so I had to ease into it with tea and half-caff. I still can’t drink anything caffeinated after ~noon or I will not sleep at night.

I’ll be honest with you. Colombian coffee is great and all, but I still prefer Starbucks’ medium roast coffees. There’s just something about their coffee (especially when you brew it yourself) that I’ve never experienced in most Colombian coffees. Sure, there are some great coffees that I bring back whenever I visit, but nothing beats the taste of home brewed Pike Place. I was born and raised in Colombia. There is nothing more Colombian than having black coffee with your breakfast.

Most often it’s locally roasted beans(coffee plant roasters, pacori, or wandering goat), ground at home and then drip brewed, just a dash of milk. I bring it to work in a 16 oz container. Backup coffee beans is whatever’s at the nearest store.
Sometimes I use a French press, sometimes a lower end espresso machine, and sometimes an aeropress.
No matter the preparation method, the outcome seems to depend more on quality beans and the right grind for what you’re using, in my experience.
I’m always torn at work because in my building there is a little cafe/restaurant and I like the owners. They are very nice and they work hard. But their coffee is okay at best. So if I’m buying coffee, I want it to be better than what I make at home, and I usually go across the street and get an americano or latte with an extra shot.

We get sorta fancy at my house but not super fancy.
My wife likes to drink half-caf so she can have more coffee without going insane, so I got a cheap Krups burr grinder .
I put a mix of regular decaf beans in there so it grinds them together to make half-caf. Right now my mix is
Cameron’s Organic French Roast
plus
Steep & Brew Decaf Colombian
. We have a
Capresso drip machine
that brews a good cup o’ joe.
I’m terrible at keeping tumblers and other such devices cleaned on a regular basis so I haven’t made the leap to bringing coffee from home to work with me. So I have a cup of the good stuff at home in the morning and then at work I drink the swill in the coffee room. It is swill.

I’ve a Auto Bean to Cup Espresso machine at home and in the office. My home machine ( Krups ) has started leaking so I’m using an aeropress as a stop gap until I can fix the leak. The office one is the cheapest Delonghi model. Works alright, but needs a lot more cleaning than the Krups and the drip tray design sometime dribbles water on the floor.
Double shot in a large mug with a small amount of milk. I usually use the Lavazza Cafè Crema beans as they are reasonably priced (£11/Kg) but good enough. When Lidl have their large bags of beans in I’ll pick up a couple of bags as it’s very similar but £9/1.2KG

My girlfriend works at Starbucks, so free coffee and tea for days. Usually a dark roast in a French press, but that got dropped and replaced with a nice pour-over. Also I take it with cream, no sugar. Several months ago I switched to just tea, coffee was giving me a lot of stomach issues. By now I’m just not having caffeine, for the most part I feel better for it. I do miss coffee though, if I could drink it without stomach pain, I still would.

Reliability isn’t great either. They should mostly clean themselves, with auto purge on startup/shutdown. The problem with the Delonghi is that it spills grounds inside itself and a lot of wet grounds stick to various bits of the mechanism. The Krups unit is much cleaner and the descaling cycle is easier. Uses a lot less water too.
The base cheapest ones are around £250. If I was buying from a Coffee shop it would only take a few months to pay for it.

I think part of the problem is up til now I’ve only had assorted pop-top coffee transporting devices where the pop tops have little tunnels the coffee goes through, and little bits and pieces that need to be removed for cleaning, and I don’t feel like dealing with that crap.

Yea really easy, the only downside is the amount of pumping needed. With the larger water tank, it takes 40 presses of the piston to force all of the water through. In order to get the best shot, you’re supposed to count a Mississippi between each “stroke”. So it takes a little while to get your coffee. During this time every one of your co workers will ask you 20 questions about it, so if you’re not careful it will take you an hour for one cup.

I have a solo filter thingy for my K machine that works pretty well. I feel way better about that than using K-cups. I do buy them once or twice a year though. They are great when you have company and don’t want to worry about grinding beans or your impact on the sea turtles.

Usually tea, but when I want coffee I get fancy coffee shop coffees or make Turkish coffee at home.

I drink tea usually when I’m not feeling well. I love the amount of Hipster coffee shops in LA haha
